Want the ratings behind every channel? They're in our ranked list of 150 acquisition channels.

How the Channel Finder works

We rate every channel from 1 to 10 on the criteria below. All criteria start with equal weight, and each answer you give shifts weight toward what matters in your situation. Channels are then ranked by their weighted average, the fit score. Channels that need something you don't have yet, like paying customers for a referral program or ad budget for paid search, are kept out of your top picks and listed with what would unlock them.

CriterionWhat it measures
TargetingHow precisely can we reach the right targeted accounts?
TrustHow much credibility does the channel build before the sales conversation?
IntentHow likely are leads actively considering a purchase?
ActivationHow likely are users from this channel to reach meaningful product value?
ValueHow valuable are acquired customers likely to become?
ImpactHow significantly does the channel affect revenue growth?
EffortHow easy is the channel to launch and manage?
CostHow affordable is the channel to execute successfully?
SpeedHow quickly can the channel produce pipeline or revenue?
FeasibilityHow realistic is this channel for a newer company?
ScalabilityHow easily can the channel grow without losing efficiency?
PriorityHow urgently should the company test or build this channel?

Activation only applies to product-led channels. A high Cost rating means a channel is affordable, and a high Effort rating means it is easy to run.

FAQ

What is a customer acquisition channel?

A customer acquisition channel is a repeatable path through which a company reaches potential buyers and moves them toward becoming customers, such as paid search, SEO, outbound, partnerships, referrals or product-led loops.

How does the Channel Finder rank channels?

Every channel is rated from 1 to 10 on criteria such as targeting, intent, cost, speed, effort and scalability. Each criterion starts with the same weight, and your answers add weight to the ones that matter for you. The fit score is the weighted average, so it stays on a 0 to 10 scale. Channels that need something you don't have yet, such as customers, investors, an audience or budget, are moved out of your top picks.

Where do the channel ratings come from?

They come from WeGrowth's channel scoring framework, built from years of running acquisition for SaaS companies. The full ratings and definitions are in our ranked list of 150 acquisition channels. They are benchmarks, not guarantees, so replace them with your own results as you test.

Should I choose product-led or sales-led?

Choose product-led if customers can sign up, try and buy with little or no help, usually at a low to mid price. Choose sales-led if deals involve demos, several stakeholders and a higher contract value. If you run both, check each list separately.

How many acquisition channels should a startup test?

Two or three at a time is usually enough. Testing too many channels at once spreads budget and attention thin, so none of them gets a fair test. Give each one a clear hypothesis, a fixed budget and 4 to 6 weeks before you decide.

How do I compare channels once I start testing?

Compare them on cost per qualified lead or SQL, conversion to paying customer and payback, not on clicks or traffic. Our unit economics calculator shows the most you can pay per customer, and the channel scorecard template lets you log real results next to the benchmark.

Is the data I enter saved anywhere?

No. The Channel Finder runs entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to our servers. Your answers are only stored in the page address, so you can bookmark or share your ranking.
